Early 40s Gibson L-0, 14-fret to body flat top acoustic. 14 & 3/4" wide, 24 & 3/4" scale length, 1 & 11/16th nut width, bound top and back, tortoiseshell guard, dot inlay, fairly chunky C neck profile, tapered headstock and script logo.
Unusual appointments are often seen on wartime Gibson's due to the shortage of materials available at the time. This L-0 is a prime example featuring a Mahogany X-braced top rather than Spruce (a feature of earlier models from the late 20s through to the early 30s.) The tone is beautifully balanced and the sustain is incredible. Honestly one of the nicest acoustics we have in stock at the moment and a very difficult guitar to put down. This would make an excellent recording guitar, and also comes with a fitted under saddle pickup for live use. For what has clearly been a working instrument much of it's life, it's easy to understand why.Originality/Conditions
